Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy helps manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave.  It is used to treat anxiety disorders and depression and many other mental health problems.  CBT is based on the idea that your thoughts, behaviours, physical and emotional feelings are interconnected resulting in a vicious cycle.  It allows you to move forward using evidence-based techniques.

Counselling

Counselling is the process of looking into the past and making sense of this. This form of therapy can be helpful when coming to terms with difficulties such as abuse, bereavement, childhood issues and many more.

It allows you to take a lead enabling you to discover your own solutions. My role is to be the compassionate facilitator and listen without judgement and to guide the therapeutic process, helping you on a journey of self discovery.

Person-Centered Experiential Counselling for Depression (PCE-CfD)

This therapy helps you to explore and understand the feelings which are underlying depression and those maintaining your depressive symptoms.  It enables you to reflect on your experiences allowing you to develop a better understanding of yourself and the world around you.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing helps you to reduce the impact  of past traumatic experiences which affect you in the present.  The reason they affect you now is because they have not been stored in the memory properly and are therefore unprocessed or blocked.

EMDR helps to process these memories and it is a recommended treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in national and international guidelines.

Behavioural Couples Therapy (BCT)

Behavioural Couples Therapy is a therapy to treat depression for individuals in a committed and romantic relationship.

Research indicates that BCT improves relationships and at the same time alleviates depression.  BCT can also help couples who have Long Term Physical Health Conditions (LTCs) and for those relationships where trust has been broken.
